Thermal Mass Flowmeters

Endress+Hauser thermal mass flowmeters measure flow directly from heat transfer around a heated sensor, delivering true mass flow of gases and, via t‑mass T, selected liquids. The range spans Proline t‑mass F and I 300/500 (inline or insertion), t‑mass A/B 150 for cost‑effective utility gas metering, and t‑mass T 150 for liquids; insertion versions cover pipes or ducts up to DN 1500 (60").

They’re very useful, as direct gas mass measurement means no separate pressure/temperature correction, negligible pressure loss, wide turndown, and stable results at low velocities. Patented sensors compensate in real time for changes in temperature, pressure, flow direction, and gas type, while Heartbeat Technology provides built‑in diagnostics and verification. Communications include 4–20 mA/HART, Modbus RS485, WirelessHART, and an Ethernet web server; remote 500 transmitters offer up to four I/Os.

Typical applications include plant utilities: compressed air sub‑metering and leak detection, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and argon distribution, ventilation/process ducting, and energy balancing of gases. In water/wastewater and cooling circuits, t‑mass T 150 enables reliable monitoring and trending of water‑based liquids.

Select t‑mass F for compact inline metering, I for scalable insertion across large lines, 150‑series for budget‑friendly skids and OEMs, and 300/500 platforms when you need advanced diagnostics, web access or remote mounting. All versions integrate easily with PLC/DCS and are backed by Endress+Hauser lifecycle services for sizing, verification, and spares.
