Optical Analysis
Endress+Hauser’s Optical Analysis portfolio brings laboratory‑grade spectroscopy and optical sensing into the plant—covering solids, liquids, slurries, particles, and gases. The family spans TDLAS and quenched fluorescence (QF) gas analyzers, Raman spectroscopic systems, modular CEMS, process gas analyzers, particle monitors, tunnel air quality, smoke and visual range instrumentation, plus digital analyzer solutions. Offerings are available in in-situ and extractive architectures with industry protocols and lifecycle services to fit regulated and harsh environments.
TDLAS and QF analyzers deliver fast, selective, low‑maintenance measurements directly in the gas stream. TDLAS platforms such as J22 and JT33 target H₂O, H₂S and CO₂ with high specificity; for example, JT33 provides reliable, continuous H₂S measurement for gas quality protection and process control. QF oxygen analyzers (e.g., OXY5500) measure O₂ from ppm to percent using a fiber‑optic probe and controller—well suited to natural‑gas and gas‑processing duties. Typical applications span production and gathering systems, custody transfer, CCUS and hydrogen service.
Raman spectroscopic systems—powered by Kaiser Raman technology—enable quantitative, in situ composition tracking without sampling. The Rxn analyzers and fiber‑optic probes support model transfer from lab to plant and expose modern interfaces (e.g., OPC UA/Modbus) to integrate PAT/QbD strategies across reaction monitoring, crystallization, fermentation, drying, and blending. This shortens development cycles, stabilizes quality, and opens closed‑loop control opportunities.
For compliance and environmental stewardship, Endress+Hauser’s emission monitoring solutions (CEMS) combine NDIR/UV/DOAS/TDLAS modules into turnkey systems engineered to site and regulatory needs. MERCEM300Z delivers ultra‑low mercury measurement for flue gases, while the MARSIC platform is type‑approved for ship emissions per MARPOL Annex VI/IMO MEPC with SOx/CO₂ and NOx measurement around scrubbers/SCR. Modular GM/GMS/MCS platforms cover the common pollutants and oxygen across power, WtE, cement, and metals.
Process gas analyzers address combustion and process control with both in-situ and extractive options. Zirconia‑based ZIRKOR analyzers provide robust O₂ measurement with long‑life cells, automated adjustment, and suitability per EN 15267—supporting boiler/INC optimization and emissions tasks; TRANSIC laser‑O₂ and modular systems complement where sampling or safety demands it. Connectivity includes 4–20 mA and fieldbuses for DCS integration.
Particle measuring devices (DUSTHUNTER family, FWE200DH, Combiprobe) use forward/backscatter and transmittance optics to quantify dust in dry and wet stacks, track baghouse and ESP performance, and provide alarms for process excursions. Broad protocol support (Modbus, PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP) simplifies deployment in utility, WtE, mining, and cement services—where reliability and low drift are paramount.
For infrastructure safety, the portfolio includes tunnel air‑quality, smoke, and visual‑range instruments. VISIC/VICOTEC devices monitor visibility (K‑value) and gases such as CO, NO, and NO₂ to drive ventilation control; SMOTEC forward‑scatter detectors deliver fast smoke detection across tunnel classes; visual‑range systems provide extractive or in‑situ visibility for roads, tunnels, and sea routes. These systems harden operations against incidents while optimizing fan energy.
Digital analyzer solutions contextualize measurements and streamline compliance. MEAC300 supports DAHS data acquisition/reporting; Monitoring Box enables remote condition monitoring and asset health; and the Maritime Suite standardizes fleet compliance workflows. Together they add calculation, storage, transmission, and predictive functions—bridging analyzers with enterprise reporting and IIoT stacks in regulated industries.
