Ultrasonic Flowmeters

Endress+Hauser ultrasonic flowmeters use high‑frequency sound to measure flow in gases and liquids. Using the differential transit‑time method—comparing upstream and downstream signal travel times—they provide reliable velocity and volume measurement, independent of pressure, density, temperature, conductivity, or viscosity (for homogeneous fluids).

Two architectures cover most needs: clamp‑on sensors mount outside the pipe for non‑invasive installs/retrofits with zero pressure loss, for diameters up to DN 4000; inline meters add traceable factory calibration, robust design, and short inlet runs, up to DN 300.

Within Proline, Prosonic Flow W 400 and P 500 add advantages such as maintenance‑free coupling pads, FlowDC for relaxed inlet runs, and Heartbeat Technology for continuous verification. Specialized options handle high temperatures and demanding liquid hydrocarbons.

Typical uses include water/wastewater network monitoring, leak detection/NRW; district energy & building services (thermal energy metering); chemical and power utilities; and hydrocarbon transfer/custody such as LNG, where non‑intrusive, low‑maintenance metering cuts downtime.
