Conductive Level Measurement

Endress+Hauser conductive level devices are point level sensors for water‑based liquids. They detect level by measuring continuity between metal electrodes and a tank reference. When the medium bridges the probes, the circuit closes and the instrument switches. Offered as compact switches or multi‑electrode probes, they suit media with adequate conductivity.

They’re straightforward, rugged, and economical. No moving parts; AC excitation limits electrode wear. Dependable overfill, spill, and dry‑run protection. Performance is largely independent of dielectric constant or density. Hygienic variants handle CIP/SIP, and options cover high temperature, pressure, and hazardous areas.

Applications: water/wastewater sumps, neutralization, rinse tanks, chemical dosing (detergents, caustics, acids), plating baths, and cooling/process water. In F&B they suit brine, whey, and CIP return lines. In general industry they monitor separators, leak pans, day tanks, and simple conductive interface alarms.

Implementation: single‑point or multi‑point; rod electrodes for short reach, rope for deep top‑entry tanks. Integrate via relay units or NAMUR to a PLC. Quick install—often the tank wall is ground—and setup is just sensitivity to the medium’s conductivity, delivering low life‑cycle cost.
