Microwave Transmission Measurement
Enhanced process control: Real-time, maintenance-free inline measurement of total solids in various industries.
Microwave Transmission Measurement
Endress+Hauser’s Microwave Transmission Measurement provides inline, real‑time determination of total solids in sludge and other mixtures. Microwaves transmitted through the medium are evaluated for time‑of‑flight and attenuation to calculate permittivity, yielding accurate %TS independent of color or turbidity over a broad 0–50% range.
This continuous method reduces grab sampling and lag, enabling faster process decisions with less maintenance. Teqwave MW instruments add smart diagnostics and on‑board verification (Heartbeat Technology), polished measuring tubes that minimize build‑up, and convenient web‑server access for operation and documentation.
Typical applications include wastewater treatment—especially clarification, digestion, and dewatering—where stable solids control improves thickening efficiency, polymer dosing, and dewatering performance. The technology is also applied in food & beverage and pulp & paper processes where total solids are critical to quality and energy use.
Two inline options fit installation needs: Proline Teqwave MW 300 (compact) and MW 500 (remote). Both cover 0–500 g/L (0–50% TS) and integrate cleanly with plant systems via HART, Modbus RS‑485 and Ethernet web server; multivariable outputs can also provide temperature and conductivity with load‑rate calculation when paired with a flowmeter.
