Surface Thermometers

Endress+Hauser iTHERM SurfaceLine surface thermometers read process temperature from the outside of pipes and vessels—no penetration or thermowell. The range includes TM611, an advanced non‑invasive RTD/TC assembly, and TST602, a basic RTD for monitoring; engineered pipe‑skin sets for furnaces and fired heaters complete the lineup.

Why they’re beneficial: non‑invasive installs eliminate leak paths, contamination, flow disturbance and wake‑frequency calcs, and can be retrofitted without shutdown. TM611’s optimized coupling element delivers invasive‑like accuracy and response across −196…400 °C, with HART, FF, PROFIBUS, IO‑Link, PROFINET APL and optional Bluetooth; global Ex and SIL approvals support safety.

Typical uses: energy monitoring and safety checks where thermowells are risky or impractical—high flow/pressure, corrosive or viscous media, abrasion, pigging, or small diameters—in chemicals, power and oil & gas. TST602 suits building automation/climatization, heat‑exchanger monitoring, and quick device verification.

Individually: TM611 is a non‑invasive RTD/TC thermometer; accuracy to IEC 60751 AA/A/B or IEC 60584‑2/ASTM Class 1/2. TST602 is the cost‑effective RTD variant with Class A/B accuracy and a −20…200 °C operating range. Both clamp to the outer wall—no process opening.

Selection: pick TM611 for top performance and multi‑protocol integration; choose TST602 for plant utilities and general surfaces. For radiant zones and tube‑skin monitoring on furnaces or fired heaters, specify engineered pipe‑skin solutions (reinforced TC tips, expansion coils, and Ex‑d) for durability.
