Device Configuration Tablets

Endress+Hauser Field Xpert device configuration tablets are mobile, Windows‑based tools that turn commissioning and maintenance into efficient workflows. They communicate with Endress+Hauser and third‑party instruments over HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, PROFIBUS (DP/PA), PROFINET, Modbus and IO‑Link. You can connect point‑to‑point with a modem, point‑to‑bus through a gateway, or go wireless via Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth. Each tablet includes a large pre‑installed DTM/FDI driver library (several thousand) and links to Netilion Library/Analytics to digitize reports and asset records plantwide.

Individually: Field Xpert SMT70B is a high‑performance industrial tablet for Ex Zone 2 and safe areas, as a complete solution with fast one‑click connections, automatic device recognition and a secure Bluetooth® link. It supports all key protocols—wired and wireless—and includes Endress+Hauser service interfaces (CDI/ISS/IPC/PCP). Rugged design (11.6″ Gorilla Glass, sunlight‑readable to 1,000 nit) on Windows 11 LTSC performs in the field. For non‑Ex zones, SMT50 offers a 12.2″ display, up to 8‑hour battery, Windows 10 LTSC and more than 3,000 pre‑installed drivers with generic HART and PROFIBUS profile DTMs—ideal for standardization.

For Ex Zone 1, Field Xpert SMT77 delivers a touch‑optimized experience, direct links to Netilion services and integrated Heartbeat Verification reporting. SMT77 is in phase‑out (announced November 2023); Endress+Hauser lists spares and repairs available until December 2025 so installed bases remain supported while new projects move to SMT70B/SMT50. A robust 10.1″ display and ~5‑hour battery runtime suit it to hazardous areas.

Typical applications include greenfield commissioning, loop checks, parameterization at start‑up, device replacement, and troubleshooting—across water & wastewater, chemical, oil & gas/marine, power & energy, mining, pulp & paper, food & beverage, and life sciences. Benefits include one‑device access to mixed fleets, NAMUR NE 107‑style diagnostics, one‑click connections, and compliant documentation (configuration and Heartbeat Verification PDFs). Flexible connectivity (point‑to‑point, point‑to‑bus, or wireless via plant Wi‑Fi/hotspots) and automatic DTM updates cut effort and cost while improving data quality.
