Vibronic Point Level Detection
Endress+Hauser’s vibronic point level devices are switches using a vibrating tuning fork. Electronics watch resonance; when the product covers the fork, the frequency shifts and the output toggles. Liquiphant (liquids) and Soliphant (solids) offer short/extended probes for standard, hygienic, or rugged service.
They require no calibration and are largely independent of density and dielectric. The fork ignores bubbles, vapor, and agitation, giving repeatable switching where floats or capacitance drift. Self‑monitoring and proof‑testing support SIL 2/3; diagnostics flag corrosion or buildup, and MIN/MAX fail‑safe protects on fault or power loss.
Integration: threaded, flanged, and hygienic clamp connections; stainless‑steel wetted parts; approvals for hazardous areas and overfill protection. Commissioning via push‑buttons or guided setup. Outputs include relay, 2‑wire AC/DC, NAMUR, and transistor types; some compact versions add IO‑Link for easy PLC integration.
Typical uses: overfill prevention, high‑high/low‑low alarms, pump run‑dry, leak detection, and filter housings. In solids, they signal "full" or "empty" in hoppers, chutes, and dust filters. This is common across various industries such as chemicals, water, food & beverage, oil & gas, and pharma. For extreme viscosity or heavy buildup, use alternatives or forks with coating compensation.
